Huppa, an Amsterdam-based SportsTech startup offering an all-in-one platform for gyms, CrossFit boxes and studios, has secured €1 million in pre-Seed funding.
The investment round was led by a group of seasoned entrepreneurs and investors, including the founders of Dutch tech companies Sentia, Keylane, TicketSwap, Moneybird, and Revue. The round also saw participation from NL SportTech Ventures, an early-stage VC firm backing Dutch sports technology founders.
“Many gyms, CrossFit boxes, and studios still rely on outdated software that no longer meets their needs. Administration takes up too much time, data is fragmented, and opportunities to grow revenue go unnoticed,” the company said in a statement.
Huppa was born in 2024 out of the frustration of its founders — Sharief Mohamed and Gino Arendsz — with the software used at their kickboxing gym and CrossFit box, respectively. Their firsthand experience with the outdated gym software became the foundation for a company built around a simple premise: sports entrepreneurs deserve better tools and software.
At the centre of Huppa’s product is the Huppa Platform, which serves gyms, CrossFit boxes, martial arts studios, yoga and Pilates spaces, and other group-based fitness businesses. It connects operational and financial processes, translating that data into actionable insights by consolidating member management, class scheduling, payments, financial reporting, and automation into a single system.
Other features include smart scheduling tools that allow planning across multiple locations, a KPI dashboard covering revenue, VAT, membership metrics, and role-based access controls for coaches, managers, and administrative staff. Another strength of the platform is pricing transparency, with businesses paying based on the number of active customers, eliminating future shocks in the form of separate modules or unexpected upgrade fees.
Huppa’s platform integrates with partners such as Mollie and aggregators including Urban Sports Club and ClassPass. While streamlining administration remains a core functionality of Huppa right now, the startup aims to deploy AI-powered insights and automation to build “a proactive digital sparring partner”, one capable of going beyond performance data to help owners act on it.
In other words, Huppa wants to be the platform that helps sports entrepreneurs identify which memberships perform best, which classes could generate better revenue, and where new growth opportunities exist. The fresh capital will be used for continued development of its gym management platform and team expansion.
The company argues that the group-based fitness market is growing rapidly and becoming increasingly complex, where operators manage memberships, multi-location operations, individual product sales, and third-party platform integrations. By automating these repetitive tasks, Huppa says sports entrepreneurs will be able to spend more time with their community while members get autonomy over their own experience.
With fresh capital, Huppa wants to focus on the Netherlands and Belgium, where it aims to serve at least 150 sports businesses by the end of 2027 before pursuing broader European ambitions.
