Meet The Most Active Startup Investors Of Q3 2026

India’s startup funding market remained selective in the third quarter of 2026, with investors backing fewer startups even as the overall capital deployed saw a modest uptick.

Indian startups raised $2.2 Bn in Q3 2026, up 5% from $2.1 Bn in the year-ago quarter, despite the number of funding deals falling 13% to 210. The pool of active investors also shrank 24% YoY to 511 from 676, pointing to a more concentrated funding environment.

The trend was particularly visible in the early-stage ecosystem, where investors became more discerning about the startups they backed. At the same time, venture debt continued to be the most prominent source of capital, with debt firms bagging the top most active investors spot this quarter as well.

Stride Ventures led the overall investor leaderboard with 38 deals, followed by Alteria Capital with 31. The duo have maintained this lead throughout 2026.

Among equity investors, 3one4 Capital topped the list with 19 investments, followed by Rainmatter with 16, IvyCap Ventures with 15 and Antler with 14.

With the funding market becoming more selective, these investors stood out for the breadth and consistency of their deployment during the quarter.

With that, here’s a look at the most active startup investors of Q3 2026.

Meet The Most Active Startup Investors Of Q3 2026

Stride Ventures

The venture debt firm continued to be the most active startup investor in Q3 2026, backing 38 startups during the quarter. Its notable investments included Branch, FreshToHome and GIVA, among others.

The firm has been expanding its global presence and currently manages seven debt funds across India, the GCC, the UK and Europe. It is also planning to deploy $1 Bn across global credit markets over the next few years.

The firm counts 16 unicorns among its 220+ portfolio companies, including Zetwerk, Udaan, Upstox, Ola Electric and Perfios.

Alteria Capital

The firm continued to be the second most active investor this quarter after closing 48 deals in the first half of the year. In the September quarter, Alteria closed 31 deals backing startups like Curefoods, Ultrahuman, Yubi, River Mobility and Miraggio, among others.

The Mumbai-headquartered firm is known for backing early to growth stage startups across sectors like foodtech, agritech, fintech, deeptech, EV and retail.

Alteria Capital manages four funds and has deployed more than $750 Mn to date. The firm has over $550 Mn in assets under management and has backed more than 15 unicorns, including Zepto, BharatPe, Mensa Brands and Spinny.

Google

Google emerged as the third most active investor in Q3 2026, backing 20 startups via its Google for Startups Accelerator: India 2026 programme.

Announced in July, the 2026 cohort comprises 20 AI-first startups selected from nearly 2,500 applications. The startups completed an in-person bootcamp at Google’s Bengaluru campus. As part of the programme, Google will work with the selected startups to refine their products, optimise their technology architecture and prepare them for scaled deployment.

Later in September, the company also selected four Indian startups — Terrastack, Varaha Climate, Farmers for Forests and Climitra Carbon — for its debut AI focused accelerator ‘Google DeepMind Accelerator: AI for the Planet (APAC)’. The accelerator aims to address urgent environmental challenges using AI.

3one4 Capital

Early-stage venture capital firm 3one4 Capital backed 19 startups during Q3 2026, including Elixir Foods, Smalle and Unbox Robotics.

The early-stage focused VC also completely exited EV startup Yulu via a secondary transaction as part of its $93 Mn Series C round which was led by GEF Capital Partners

Since inception, 3one4 Capital has invested in more than 110 startups including Licious, DarwinBox, Open, Kuku FM, Jupiter, BetterPlace and Tracxn.

As of now, the firm is gearing up to launch its fifth fund, with a target corpus of $225 Mn, 3one4 Capital IFSC – Fund V. The corpus will primarily target startups operating in sectors like AI and SaaS, enterprise and manufacturing automation, fintech, deeptech and consumer internet.

Rainmatter

Zerodha’s startup investment arm Rainmatter closed 16 deals in Q3 2026. Its notable investments during the quarter included Arboreal, Econovus, Minimac, Quanfluence and SolarSquare.

Rainmatter operates as a “perennial” fund using Zerodha’s own capital, allowing it to take a long-term approach to its investments. While it initially focused on fintech, the firm has expanded into areas such as climate tech, D2C and healthtech.

The Zerodha-backed investor is increasingly betting on engineering-heavy businesses developing indigenous IP, components and systems upstream of manufacturing. Since its inception in 2016, Rainmatter has built a portfolio of around 160 investments and manages assets worth more than ₹1,500 Cr.

Its portfolio includes smallcase, Ultrahuman, The Whole Truth Foods, GalaxEye and Lissun, among others.

The VC firm backed 15 startups in Q3 2026, including BatX Energies, Blitz, BotSync, Celcius Logistics and SwitchOn.

The firm currently manages more than $650 Mn in assets and has a portfolio of over 65 startups.

The investment mix reflects the VC’s focus on tech-led businesses solving problems across India’s physical and consumer economy, rather than a concentration in a single sector. Its portfolio spans deeptech, enterprise technology, healthtech, consumertech, fintech and emerging areas such as EVs and agritech.

InnoVen Capital

The venture debt firm backed 14 startups in Q3 2026, including the likes of BharatPe, Enerzolve, Infinite Uptime, NuPlayAI and QPi, among others.

The firm typically backs startups that have already raised equity and are looking to extend their runway or support growth and has backed more than 200 startups. Meanwhile, its portfolio across Asia includes more than 420 companies.

Across markets, the firm has invested more than $1.9 Bn through over 770 debt transactions and counts more than 50 unicorns among its portfolio companies. Its India portfolio includes Swiggy, OYO, Myntra, boAt and Cars24.

Antler

Global early-stage venture capital firm Antler backed 14 startups in Q3 2026, including Green Aero, Mandrake, Navana, ProLearn and Rovia.

Founded in Singapore in 2017, Antler is now present across more than 25 cities and has made over 2,000 investments globally.

The firm launched its India operations in 2020, starting with a programme in Bengaluru. In 2023, Antler India closed commitments of ₹500 Cr for its maiden pre-seed fund and was targeting a final close of ₹600 Cr.

Antler India typically invests at the idea-to-pre-seed stage, with initial cheques ranging between $200K and $400K. It has backed more than 115 startups through its India fund, including Armory, HouseEazy, Dodo Payments, Inspecity and Green Aero Propulsion.

AJVC

Early-stage venture capital firm A Junior VC (AJVC) backed 13 startups in Q3 2026, including Alchemic, Bejan, Dialflo and MoroMaa.

Founded by Aviral Bhatnagar, AJVC initially launched with a ₹100 Cr fund. The firm later raised ₹165 Cr for its maiden fund against an initial target of ₹100 Cr.

The firm is looking to back 80-90 startups through the fund and plans to invest in another 60-70 ventures by early 2028. Typically, AJVC invests about ₹1.5 Cr per startup for a 9% stake.

Finvolve

Finvolve participated in 13 investment deals in Q3 2026, backing early-stage startups such as Evigway, Kepler Aerospace and Rezlytix.

Incorporated in 2022, the firm focuses on startups across sectors such as dronetech, spacetech, clean energy, mobility, circular economy and social impact, as well as businesses leveraging ONDC.
